Mars has changed its profile background, from a red planet to a green one

The oxidation of iron on the surface of Mars gives its atmosphere a red hue as at least the planet to the outside observer. But when they are on the ground of Mars, the first astronauts will see a... green sky. The ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter (TGO) satellite has for the first time recorded in visible light the Martian atmosphere glowing green at night.

Η νυχτερινή λάμψη, ειδικότερα, «συμβαίνει όταν δύο άτομα οξυγόνου συνδυάζονται για να σχηματίσουν ένα μόριο οξυγόνου» σύμφωνα με τον Ευρωπαϊκό Οργανισμό Διαστήματος (ESA) που μαζί με τη ρωσική διαστημική υπηρεσία Roscosmos έστειλαν τον δορυφόρο TGO στον Άρη .

In comparison, aurora occurs on Earth when charged particles from the Sun collide with Earth's magnetic field. The scientists they suspected that the Mars it's been aglow for about 40 years, but the first observation was made only a decade ago by ESA's Mars Express satellite, which detected the phenomenon in the infrared spectrum. Then, in 2020, scientists observed the phenomenon in visible light using TGO, but in Martian daylight rather than at night. Now, we've seen the phenomenon at night via the TGO satellite.
