PS6: Rumors and expectations for Sony's next-gen console

2020 was marked by its impressive presentation PlayStation 5 by Sony, a moment eagerly awaited by console fans. This next-gen console brought a number of innovations, such as increased processing power, improved graphics, and a significant improvement in loading times thanks to the SSD drive. The console also stood out for its modern and discreet design, as well as the revolutionary new DualSense controller, which offers innovative touch response and feedback.

Now, three years later, it's safe to assume we're about halfway through the generation's life cycle. So it makes sense to wonder what Sony has in store for us next. There are already many rumors about the Playstation 6, and there are also many expectations.

Although Sony has not acknowledged the existence of a sixth-generation PlayStation, the company is undoubtedly working on its development. We probably won't hear about the PS6 until we're at least a year away from its launch, so we still have some waiting time.

When the PS5 was released, Sony offered two versions of the system — one with a disc drive and one without. The digital version without a disc drive sold for $100 less to give buyers a cheaper option. It is not certain that this will also apply to the PS6. That the new PS5 Digital Edition can be equipped with an attached disc drive may give us a hint of Sony's future strategy. It is likely that there will only be one digital version of the console and it will be designed to allow customers to attach a disc drive, which will be available for sale separately.

As with any patent, however, there's no guarantee that Sony will move forward with any of these ideas.

Moving on to the price, if we have to guess what the price of the PS6 might be, we should look at the prices of the previous consoles.
