Is Sam Altman Joining Microsoft? Satya Nadella doesn't seem to know

Nadella added that "obviously we want Sam and Greg to have a fantastic home if they're not [at] OpenAI, with all the colleagues at Microsoft, but I'm exactly where I was on Friday morning."

On Friday morning, Nadella woke up with Sam Altman still CEO of OpenAI and a close collaborator with the company. Hours later, OpenAI's board opted to fire Sam Altman in a shock decision, and it certainly sounds like Nadella wished he could hit the reset button by Friday morning.

He didn't say it outright, but he was more willing to talk about board changes at Bloomberg TV than on the possibility of Sam Altman being a real Microsoft employee:

I think we will definitely want some governance changes. Surprises are bad and we just want to make sure things are done in a way that allows us to continue to work well together. This idea that suddenly changes happen without us being aware is not good and we will definitely make sure that some of the changes that are needed are made and we can still keep up with the collaboration with OpenAI.
