James Gunn casts Nicholas Hoult as Superman Legacy's Lex Luthor
With James Gunn's recent announcement that Superman: Legacy it was on track for its planned July 11, 2025 release date, it's no surprise that we're getting more broadcast news now that the strikes are over. Nicholas Hoult, who was recently seen tearing up limbs on screen Renfield—but also a previous one who wore the bald look, inside of 2015 Mwill play Lex Luthor.
Hoult's casting as Superman's iconic villain didn't come until much later a deeper character was announced: María Gabriela de Faría as Angela “The Engineer” Spica, possibly another villain, though Gunn himself softens this characterization by noting that “'Villain' is such a derogatory term!” in a welcome post for the actor on Instagram.
