Huawei: will keep Android apps on foreign devices
Η Huawei revealed it HarmonyOS Next for developers with one important feature: there will be no support for apk files, which are Android applications. Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei, revealed that the new operating system is ready to be released to end users, causing confusion among Huawei owners around the world. A week after the announcement, the company issued a clarification that overseas units will not receive the new OS. Mobile phones and tablets will continue to use EMUI – a lookalike of HarmonyOS, which is an open source Android project without the Google branding and apps, while support for apk files will remain.
