DreamCloud vs WinkBed: Which Hybrid Mattress Fits Your Sleep Better?

The DreamCloud Hybrid and The WinkBed mattresses are both luxury hybrids from well-known sleep brands (DreamCloud is Nectar Sleep's sister company). While both use a combination of memory foam and coils to enhance support, pressure relief and breathability, there is a big difference in not these beds. There are also big differences in how customizable each mattress is, as we explore in this DreamCloud vs. WinkBed comparison.

Right off the bat we can tell you that both layers rank highly in ours the best mattress driver of the year, both included in our expert mattress for back pain driver too. That's because our mattress reviewers reported a significant reduction in hip and lower back pain when sleeping on the DreamCloud and The WinkBed.

However, the prices are very different: one size DreamCloud mattress normally sells for $799 – right now you can save 50% on the DreamCloud Hybrid with a queen at $665 on DreamCloud – while a queen size WinkBed normally sells for $1.499. So, DreamCloud is by far the best option for smaller budgets.

Apart from the price, another big difference is the range of firmness options for each mattress, and here the WinkBed is unbeatable: it offers four levels of comfort, from soft to firm, and with a fourth option for heavy people. DreamCloud has only one level of stability, which our testers rated to be on the firmer side of mid-range. Height-wise they're similar, with the DreamCloud being the slightly taller of the two at 14″ compared to The WinkBed's 13,5″ height.

We have also tested both layers and you can read in detail DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress Review and WinkBed mattress review for all analysis and test data. Now let's take a look at the full DreamCloud vs. WinkBed comparison to give you all the details you need to decide between two of the best hybrid mattresses on sale this year.

DreamCloud vs WinkBed Mattress: Price, Tests

  • A DreamCloud queen typically retails for $799
  • A queen WinkBed normally retails for $1.499
  • Both have a lifetime warranty, but the DreamCloud sleep test is longer

You don't have to pay attention to MSRP with either the DreamCloud or the WinkBed, as both are always on sale. The DreamCloud mattress sale drives the mattress into the mid-range bracket. This makes it an extremely affordable luxury hybrid. DreamCloud's new holiday deal is a 50% off flash sale, dropping the price of a queen size to just $665 (was $1.332) compared to $799 when it's on sale most months.

You can also add a bed linen package at a greatly reduced price. We've previously seen the mattress drop to $899 with the bedding bundle included for free, so any of these deals will save you a significant amount. DreamCloud also offers a 365-night mattress trial, a lifetime warranty, and free shipping and returns.

Likewise, the WinkBed has a permanent sale, $300 off all sizes. That puts it at the top of the upper mid-range bracket, but note that if you buy the WinkBed Plus (designed for heavier bodies) you'll still be paying premium prices.

Although mattress sales happen all year round, WinkBed sales don't increase during big sales events, which means you can buy the mattress whenever you choose, as there will never be a cheaper price around the corner. Like the DreamCloud, the WinkBed has a lifetime warranty, free shipping and returns, but the trial period is shorter at 120 nights. That's still four times the expert-recommended minimum of 30 nights for a sleep test.

DreamCloud vs WinkBed Mattress: Plan

  • Both mattresses are extremely well made hybrid mattresses
  • DreamCloud comes in at a stability rating (8/10)
  • The WinkBed is available in four different firmness ratings (4,5, 6,5, 7,5 or 8)

The DreamCloud and WinkBed are different animals, with the WinkBed coming in a choice of stability ratings unlike the DreamCloud.

ο WinkBed available in four different firmness variations – soft, plush, firm and co. All mattresses except the Plus start with a Euro-cushion cover, with the soft having a three-layer top for more contour and the luxurious firm and firm two-layer top.

The Plus version skips this and starts with an anti-sagging foam layer. The Plus version has a latex layer for extra support, while the other versions use gel-infused foam. All mattresses have individually wrapped coils and the perimeter is reinforced for extra support. The entire mattress is finished with a Tencel cover.

ο Dreamcloud it's one of our best hybrid mattress options (like the WinkBed Plus) and starts with a quilted cashmere cover that doesn't come off for washing. Underneath is a layer of contour foam, followed by gel memory foam for pressure relief and a transition layer to fill out the individual coil springs. At the base is another layer of high-density foam for stability, with a non-slip cover underneath to keep the mattress in place.

DreamCloud vs WinkBed Design Winner: The WinkBed
With a choice of firmness features meaning you can choose a mattress to suit your particular sleeping style, the WinkBed is a winner in the design department. We especially like the thought that went into creating a layer for heavier builds, and our review team was impressed with the quality of this layer when they reviewed it.

  • DreamCloud is marketed as a mid-sized enterprise, but we rate it as an enterprise
  • The WinkBed is available in four firmness options
  • Both layers offer excellent pressure relief

even though the DreamCloud Hybrid it's officially rated 6,5/10, all of our testers felt it was much more stable, rating it 8/10. Despite its firmer feel, this is a great multi-pager that suits all sleep types. It is particularly suitable for back and stomach sleepers, who should feel that their spines are aligned and the hips are kept in the correct position.

Back pain sufferers should also find relief from aches and pains, with the mattress offering great support and pressure relief around the lower lumbar area. Side sleepers may find the mattress a bit firm at first, but after a few days the ample cushioning around the shoulders and hips will start to soften slightly and contour where needed. Some light side sleepers may find it a bit too firm, particularly if they're looking for a bed they sink into.

ο WinkBed it comes in four firmness options, with our reviewers sleeping on the luxury company. Starting with the soft version, it's ideal for side sleepers with plenty of protection and sag around the shoulders and hips. The fixed version is ideal for stomach and back sleepers who prefer to sleep on top of the mattress instead of sinking in, while the Plus version is specially designed for people weighing over 250kg.

As mentioned above, we tested the luxury version, with our testers feeling it was the perfect firmness to suit most plyers. WinkBed has configured individually wrapped coils to provide targeted support, with pressure feeling firmer in some areas and lighter in others. The tighter coils in the middle third do a great job of supporting the lumbar region and keeping the spine aligned.

DreamCloud vs WinkBed Comfort and support winner: The WinkBed
Again, the choice of stability options limits this for the WinkBed. While we think the DreamCloud is a fantastic all-in-one, the WinkBed offers sleepers the opportunity to choose a bed that's completely designed for their particular sleeping style and body type. .

DreamCloud vs WinkBed: Temperature control

  • Both sleep cool thanks to the use of coils that enhance airflow
  • DreamCloud has a breathable cashmere cover
  • The WinkBed has a moisture wicking cover for night sweats

The DreamCloud mattress performed extremely well at keeping cool at night, with our warmest sleeper feeling comfortable all night. The DreamCloud features a breathable cashmere cover, gel-infused foam that helps dissipate body heat, and well-placed coils to promote airflow.

Likewise, the WinkBed also did a good job keeping our testers cool and comfortable. It has some similar features to the DreamCloud, with a breathable Tencel cover to absorb moisture, foam with and individually wound coils that help move air through the mattress. As with the DreamCloud, it kept even our warmest night sleepers cool.

Of course, if you sleep particularly hot, these layers may not be enough to keep you cool. Consider one of ours instead the best cooling layer recommendations, which are specially designed for warm sleepers.

DreamCloud vs WinkBed Mattress Winner: It's a draw
Both mattresses do a great job of keeping bedrooms cool at night and have very similar characteristics that help wick away moisture and keep air moving through the mattress. However, we would not recommend the soft WinkBed on warm beds as the plush foam and down will trap more body heat.
