Agios Georgios (Oichalia) from above
The small settlement of Agios Georgios Messinia (Municipality of Oichalia) is located at the foot of Mount Maliza, at an altitude of 200 meters. It is 3 kilometers from Dorio and 3,5 kilometers from Kopanaki. The Saint George belongs to the Sulimochoria of the region.
In the village, the visitor can wander the cobbled streetswhatin the houses and to enjoy his coffee in the paved square with the stone fountain and the church of Agios Georgios.
At a distance of only 500 meters from the entrance of the village, you can also see the church of Agia Eleni. To the west of Agios Georgios is the site "Louri", where it is believed that the ancient city of Olouris was built. In fact, in the past, several fragments of broken vessels ("shells") have been found at the site.
Saint George is considered today suburb of Dorio and many choose it to eat in the taverns of its square. A cultural association is active in Agios Georgios, which from time to time also carries out beautification projects in the village.
