This explosion does not constitute a failure so, according to the billionaire's company, the fact that this rocket, the largest ever built, managed to launch, it is already a very big success. The cause of the explosion is not yet known.
"As if the test flight wasn't exciting enough, Starship underwent a quick unscheduled disassembly before separation," SpaceX tweeted.

He further points out that "with a test like this, success comes from what we learn, and today's test will help us improve the reliability of Starship as SpaceX seeks to make life multiplanetary."

Elon Musk's Starship exploded minutes after launch

SpaceX's Starship launched from Starbase, SpaceX's private spaceport in Boca Chica, Texas, but nearly four minutes after liftoff, an explosion followed.

The capsule was scheduled to separate from the first stage rocket three minutes into the flight, but separation did not occur and the rocket exploded.
