Η Microsoft κάνει κίνηση για να φέρει την τεχνητή νοημοσύνη (AI) to more users, introducing it Phi-3-mini, a smaller and more affordable AI model on Tuesday. This model marks the first circulation from a series of three small language models (SLM) that Microsoft is planning, as the software giant bets on a technology that is expected to change the world and the way we work.
Phi-3-mini is important because it is much more affordable than larger AI models, which can be expensive to use and maintain. "Phi-3 is not a little cheaper, it's dramatically cheaper, we're talking about a 10-fold cost difference compared to other models with similar capabilities," said Sébastien Bubeck, vice president of GenAI research at Microsoft.
This economic one price makes the Phi-3-mini attractive to a wider range of businesses, including those with limited resources. Being smaller and more focused, Phi-3-mini can handle simpler AI tasks, making it easier for non-experts to use.
Microsoft is wasting no time in making Phi-3-mini widely available. The model will be available immediately on three different platforms:
- Microsoft Azure AI Catalog: For those already using Microsoft's cloud services, Phi-3-mini will be available in Azure's catalog of AI models.
- Hugging Face: This popular machine learning platform will also host Phi-3-mini, making it easier for developers around the world to access.
- Ollama: For those who want to run the model on a local machine, Ollama provides a suitable framework.
Microsoft's move to release more affordable AI models indicates the company's growing confidence in the technology and its commitment to bringing it to more people. With the Phi-3-mini, Microsoft is making AI more accessible than ever, paving the way for a new era innovations.
